Fragrance Lamp & Stone Burner Use and Care

How to Care for, Use, and Clean Fragrance Lamps
and Stone Burner Wicks

HOW TO LIGHT A FRAGRANCE LAMP

– fill your fragrance lamp 2/3 – 3/4 full with Fragrance Fuel. Run the Wick down into the lamp, allowing the Stone Burner to rest snugly on top of the metal band at the top of the Fragrance Lamp. Place the snuffer cap over the stone burner. Wait at least 20 minutes [ you can leave fragrance fuel and stone burner in lamp several days before lighting….. but have the snuffer cap on the lamp!.] remove the snuffer cap, light the stone burner and allow the flame to burn for 3 or 4 minutes. Blow the flame out and place the large decorative vented cap over the stone burner and enjoy .

When you want to ‘turn your fragrance lamp off’, do one of the following
1] If you are going to be lighting your fragrance lamp again in the next few days, place the snuffer cap over the stone burner. Then when you are ready to relight your lamp, remove the decorative cap and snuffer cap, and just light the stone. No Waiting! Blow flame out in 3-4 minutes and replace the vented deco lid.
OR

2] If you are NOT going to be using your lamp for weeks, after the stone cools to the touch, remove it from the lamp. Place your burner and wick on a clean paper towel allowing the towel to soak up the excess fuel. Then pour about 1/3 cup 4-In-One Solution for fragrance lamps into a clean bowl, and swish your burner/wick around in the solution. Now dump the solution out of bowl and discard it.

Care of Stone Burner and Wick for Fragrance Lamps
– IF you turn your fragrance lamp off, keep the snuffer cap on your fragrance lamp. You’ll ruin any fragrance fuel left in the lamp if you leave the snuffer cap off. The antiseptic evaporates and your fuel will no longer burn
– NEVER Use Any Fuel or Fuel Oil Other Than Fragrance Fuels That Are Made For Catalytic Effusion Fragrance Lamps. It won’t work and you will ruin your Stone Burner
DO NOT soak a dirty stone burner /wick in the solution. The sediments and gunk will come out of your stone, sure, but then you will be soaking your stone burner in dirty solution! So what have you accomplished?

– your Stone Burner/Wick will have a very small wire that goes over top of the burner. DO NOT EVER REMOVE, ADJUST, OR IN ANYWAY MESS WITH THAT WIRE.

A Catalytic Stone Burner and Wick is not like any other type of wicks.
– DON”T do anything to your stone burner and wick, but keep it clean and follow these instructions.
– Do not pull, or push, the wick up into the stone burner like a traditional wick. These wicks are just not made that way and you will ruin your stone burner and wick.
– to clean your stone burner and fragrance lamp at the same time, burn some 4-in-one-solution in your fragrance lamp. Then you’ll clean your lamp, burner, and your breathing air all at the same time
– DO NOT use “home made” fragrance fuels! They may work in your fragrance lamp for awhile, maybe a day or two, but you will ruin your stone burner wick! The manufacturing process of Fragrance Fuels for Catalytic Effusion Fragrance Lamps is an exact science. It takes months to create a new scent and get the exact amount of CORRECT ingredients to all work together and to INSURE THAT THE INGREDIENTS WILL WORK AS THEY SHOULD IN A FRAGRANCE LAMP AND TO INSURE THE FRAGRANCE FUEL WORKS CORRECTLY FOR A STONE BURNER WICK!

Fragrance Lamp Safety Tips
1. Treat fragrance fuel just like you would isopropyl alcohol. Do not store it next to an open flame and do not allow children to touch your Fragrance Lamp while in use.
2. Never leave the stone burning with an open flame
3. Use the small funnel included with your Fragrance Lamp to pour the Fragrance Fuel into Lamp. Always clean any spills of fuel immediately and before you light the lamp.
4. Don’t fill your lamp all the way to the top. 3/4 full is fine
5. Never place snuffing cap over an open flame.
6. Do not refill the fragrance lamp until stone burner is cool to touch.

Fragrance fuel is fragrance oil suspended in an isopropyl alcohol base. This fragrance lamp fuel is the base of the catalytic process which diffuses the fragrance into the air.

My Testing and Abuse Results
The instructions provided above are based on the basics included with Catalytic Fragrance Lamps, with my own updated findings over the past couple of years. The testing and research I have done has taken me thru several of the Stone Burners while determining what can and cannot be done with these stone burners. I’ve ruined several stone burners, but then New Leaf Aroma came out with their latest stone burner and I can happily test, use and abuse my stone burners as I please and they still continue to keep on going!

Our latest Stone Burner Wick lasts longer, are much easier to care for, and can take more abuse or forgetfulness. Like when you forget to place the snuffer cap on when all the fuel is gone. I have left the snuffer cap off for weeks after all fuel was gone! I add more fragrance fuel, let the wick soak with snuffer cap on, and fire the lamp right back up again! If your lamp goes out [runs out of fuel] and you don’t put the snuffer cap on immediately, NO PROBLEM! Our new Stone Burner Wicks will fire right back up even if you leave the cap off for a few days! – I DO NOT recommend anyone trying the experiments on their Fragrance Lamps and Stone Burners, I have done this testing for you.

If you haven’t tried one of the new Stone Burner and Wicks by New Leaf Aroma, you are missing out on a great stone burner. They are so much easier to care for.

ALWAYS USE GOOD, QUALITY FRAGRANCE FUELS IN YOU FRAGRANCE LAMP, OR YOU WILL RUIN YOUR STONE BURNER / WICK, OR CAUSE YOUR FRAGRANCE LAMP TO SMOKE.

How To Make a Mist Fountain

DESIGN and MAKE YOUR OWN INDOOR MISTING FOUNTAIN

For the basics you will need
* A bowl of your choice
* A Drill to make hole in your bowl [not a ‘must have’ – see below]
* a Glass/ceramic specialty drill bit [only IF you want a hole in your fountain bowl]
* a mistmaker
* AC Adapter power Transformer
* a center stand and a Lid -to prevent splashing.
* you can use a metal center stand or a plastic ‘splashguard’ [to set inside the fountains bowl to hold the mist maker, and the lid sits on top]

*Drill a hole in the side of your container, near bottom, with a diamond cut bit. The hole must be the same diameter as the Mist Unit cord so buy drill bit accordingly.-*see note below

**a hole is NOT an absolute must. Save time, money, and work! Don’t drill a hole. Let the cord drape over the side of the bowl/container/pot, like the one I made shown below. You can slide the plug [on mist maker unit cord] further down the cord so it won’t show.

* Put center stand or splashguard in fountain bowl
* set mist unit in bottom of center stand
* put the small matching Lid on top of the center stand
* Fill your bowl with clean water to ABOVE the sensor`on mist unit
* Connect the mist maker unit to the a/c adapter and plug into the wall.

Enjoy your Custom Misting Fountain Design that YOU made yourself!

A good mist maker unit has a water level sensor. It may have an upside down “U” or a ’round ball’, or a ‘stick with a tiny ball on the end of it, that’s the water level sensor. Keep the water level ABOVE the sensor.

For a HANGING WALL FOUNTAIN

Do you hang flowers outside in the summer? BIG FLOWERPOTS? and have you ever used a ROD IRON HANGING Bracket? Good. You can use one of those ROD IRON brackets to mount a Wall Misting Fountain from any chosen spot. You need:

– ROD IRON bracket [or something to hang your fountain on] and you can customize your hanging fountain bracket too! all you need is imagination
– Hanging Flower basket, the sturdier the better. OOOOORRRAA. IF you can find a hanging assembly for a hanging mist fountain, USE IT! but unfortunately, I aka MountainHigh,
am all sold out
– mist maker unit w/ac adapter

– splashguard
– lid

If using a Rod Iron bracket, [get one at any dept store or hardware] decide where you want your fountain to hang, and SECURELY mount the bracket with the screws included.

– Place the Hanging Assembly on a flat surface
– set a proper size bowl in the center – it doesn’t have to be the exact shape of the hanging pot
– Use the Chain, and hook each loop on the holder, to the 3 ends of the chains
– Carefully pick up the end of the chains that come together at the top end and lift the bowl and Hanging Basket.
– Hang the Hanging Basket from the Rod Iron Bracket or your pre-chosen place
– put the mist unit and splashguard in the bowl, add water, put lid on top of splashguard, wind the mist unit cord up and around one of the chains or the bracket, hook the a/c adapter to the mist unit, and enjoy

Fragrance Oils in Mist Fountains

Use Lightweight Oils ONLY

I do not recommend using Fragrance Oils in Misting Fountains because they clog the ceramic disc. It is the ceramic disc that creates the mist. But,  if you do use Fragrance Oils or ‘ Scented Oils’  in your mist  fountain, use ONLY Quality Lightweight Oils

You must change the water, clean your fountain bowl, mist unit, and replacement disc more often when using oils in your fountain.
If you choose to use Fragrance Oils, select Quality oils, like ours.

Use ONLY a couple drops oil for each CLEAN BOWL of water. That is not the same as a couple drops every time you add water to your fountain bowl. You will clog your mist unit and/or ceramic disc with too much oil per bowl of clean water. So dump the water out everyday and then add oil. Better yet, dump the water out, use a Q-Tip and gently cleanse the Mist Maker and Ceramic Disc everyday to get all oil buildup off the parts. If you have a Tabletop Fountain, it will be very easy to do this, a bit more work with a floor fountain.

Even better…. to fill your home with the delightful fragrance of your favorite Fragrance Oil, use one of our Electric Oil Warmers! No Flame! No Soot! No Candles!

Real Essential Oils can be added as desired

HOW TO CLEAN FOUNTAIN MIST MAKER

It’s easy to keep mist fountain parts clean and trouble free with a little time and effort.

-Wet a cotton swab with gentle soap and water.how to clean mist fountain parts
-GENTLY clean around each of the LED lights that are around the outer edge of the Mist Maker Unit.
– Clean the ceramic disc while you are at it
– also GENTLY with soapy cotton swab

OR LIKE THIS
– You can put the mist maker in a bowl of soapy water to clean it. BUT BE CAREFUL! I’ve broke one of the LED lights off when cleaning the mist unit. I really wanted to get it clean! But I used that mist unit and the same disc for at least 6 more months, everyday!

MAKE SURE YOU NEVER TOUCH THE TOP OF THE CERAMIC DISC WHEN CLEANING OR CHANGING DISC!

How to clean Misting Ceramic Discs

How to clean your Ceramic Replacement Disc [or disk] with or without a keytool

THE #1 THING TO REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR FOUNTAIN MIST MAKER MISTING LIKE IT SHOULD
——-NEVER TOUCH THE DISC WITH YOUR FINGERS
the oils from your fingertips can ruin your replacement disc, a new disc or old one. The DISC is what makes the mist!

Our replacement ceramic discs come with a black rubber protective washer around the disc. Place a soft paper towel between your fingers and the new disk to remove the protective black rubber. …let the towel be between your fingers and disc at all times. The solid white side goes facing UP toward you, after it is placed in your mist maker.

Best way to clean the ceramic disc in your fountain’s mist maker
take it out of the mist unit IF you have a key tool. [see below]
Clean your disc as follows if you are having problems with your fountain’s mist maker OR in extreme cases of neglect to your mist maker – as in….. the disc is really cruddy!

IF YOU HAVE A KEY TOOL FOR DISC REMOVAL

A keytool comes with all new replacement Discs [ if a keytool doesn’t come with the disk, then DON’T buy it!].
– DO NOT touch the disc with your bare hands!
– Take the replacement disc out of the mist unit carefully using the key tool
– Place the disc on a soft lint free cloth, or a VIVA paper towel – so you won’t touch it.
– Wet a cotton swab or soft cloth with gentle soap and water and clean both sides of the disc.
– Take the disc out occasionally to clean it IF you have a key tool for that purpose
– clean the top of the disc regularly [see below]
– Completely dry the ceramic disc before putting back into mist unit.
– DO NOT try to take the disc out with anything but the key tool

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A KEY TOOL

– Wet a cotton swab with gentle soap and water
– GENTLY clean the top of the disc.
– Do Not touch the top of the replacement disc with anything else, especially your fingertips
– the oil from your fingertips can damage the disc…then it will not mist.

The easiest way to clean your mist maker and ceramic disc….. dump the water out of the fountain bowl, remove the mistmaker from the fountain bowl, place the mist maker in a bowl of clean soapy water and clean it with a cotton swap OR stick it in your dish water! [do not let the electrical connections to get wet!]

Clean the disc weekly if used daily for best results.
